When you do a simple typo error,as the router will try to translate that typo into an IP address. If we don’t have a DNS server configured, then the command line will stall for several seconds until the DNS request times out and shows disable domain lookup, refer. Below are the steps to disable domain lookup in cisco router
Lookup:
Translating “xxxxxx”…domain server (255.255.255.255)
Simply we can abort the domain lookup by: ctrl + shift + 6
To disable the domain lookup [should be On config mode]: Router(config)#no ip domain lookup
To revert the setting we can use the below command in config mode,
Router(config)#ip domain lookup
